Working closely with colleagues in the General Risk and Compliance Team and the Onboarding Compliance Team, the successful candidate will support regulatory analysis, policy development, risk and compliance monitoring, and the client and matter onboarding process. This is a dynamic, hands‑on role that requires strong analytical ability, sound judgement and a proactive, adaptable approach. It is well suited to someone with a legal or legal‑adjacent academic background who is ambitious to develop technical expertise, commercially aware, and equally comfortable supporting policy and regulatory work as well as essential day‑to‑day onboarding tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Core Team Support and Strategic Contribution: Support both the General Risk & Compliance Team and the Onboarding Compliance Team across a wide range of regulatory, policy, onboarding and risk and compliance projects, contributing to the team’s agreed priorities in line with the firm’s strategic objectives.
  • Regulatory Research, Policy Work and Analytical Responsibilities: Conduct research on the fast‑evolving regulatory landscape, distilling complex information into clear, practical guidance for the firm. Assist in drafting, developing and maintaining Policies, Controls and Procedures (PCPs), ensuring they remain current, risk‑based and aligned with regulatory expectations. Support the team by responding to compliance queries from stakeholders, escalating in accordance with the firm’s governance structure.
  • Knowledge Sharing, Training and Engagement: Support the delivery of training and awareness initiatives within the team and firm‑wide, including presentations, updates and targeted briefings on regulatory and compliance topics. Act as a knowledgeable point of contact, helping colleagues understand compliance requirements and their practical application.
  • Onboarding & AML Responsibilities: Conduct thorough Client Due Diligence (CDD) and complete relevant onboarding and risk assessment documentation, ensuring that Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) measures are appropriately applied to higher‑risk matters. Support the effective operation of the shared inbox, ensuring timely delivery within a collaborative triage and risk based framework.
  • Stakeholder Engagement and Relationship Management: Build strong, collaborative relationships with internal stakeholders (partners, lawyers and business services teams), acting as a reliable, responsive and professional contact point for compliance‑related matters. Engage constructively with clients and external parties where required, supporting accurate and timely gathering of compliance information. Contribute to ad hoc risk and compliance projects (e.g., DSARs, complaints assistance, horizon scanning, internal reviews) and support firm‑wide initiatives connected to onboarding enhancements and regulatory/policy implementation to strengthen efficiency and controls.
  • Operational Support: Carry out necessary administrative and operational tasks to support the effective functioning of the department, demonstrating flexibility and a grounded approach. This role involves working in the office at least 3x a week under a hybrid flexible system.

Personal attributes and skills: Candidates should demonstrate strong analytical ability, intellectual rigour and confidence in navigating complex regulatory frameworks, whether through academic achievement, professional experience or a combination of both. We are seeking a bright, intellectually curious and ambitious individual who is eager to develop technical expertise in compliance and contribute proactively to the team’s work. A demonstrable interest in regulation, governance, risk management and compliance, together with a willingness to develop technical expertise in these areas. This may be evidenced through academic study, work experience, extracurricular activities or other relevant experience. Strong analytical capability, with the ability to interpret complex information, connect concepts quickly, and apply sound, risk‑based judgement. Intellectually rigorous and proactive, with the ambition to grow, build deeper technical expertise and increasingly take ownership of complex compliance work. Commercially aware and pragmatic, able to balance regulatory requirements with client service considerations. Grounded and flexible, equally comfortable supporting strategic regulatory/policy work and essential operational tasks (such as onboarding). Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain regulatory concepts clearly. Strong attention to detail and ability to handle sensitive information with discretion. A collaborative, team‑oriented mindset with the ability to build rapport across the firm. The role operates on a hybrid working basis, with an expectation of working in the office at least three days per week. Strong IT literacy and willingness to learn new systems quickly. Law degree beneficial but not essential.

This job description is not exhaustive, and the job holder may be required to undertake additional duties from time to time to ensure the smooth running of the department.
