Overview
The position involves safely operating heavy vehicles to transport household goods and freight across the Perth metro area, performing load securing and vehicle checks, maintaining safety and compliance standards, and providing professional customer service. Applicants must hold a valid heavy vehicle licence, have at least two years of relevant driving experience, a clean driving record, and the physical ability to handle manual tasks. Sponsorship under the WA DAMA may be available for qualified candidates.
Responsibilities
- Safely drive heavy trucks (rigid, prime mover, or articulated vehicle as required) to transport household goods, furniture, and general freight within the Perth metro zone
- Load and unload goods, secure loads, check for damage, and maintain goods in transit
- Perform vehicle pre-trip, safety and maintenance inspections, report defects, and maintain vehicle logs
- Navigate routes, plan efficient scheduling, and communicate with dispatch
- Comply with all road safety, workplace health & safety (WHS) and regulatory requirements
- Assist with delivery documentation, inventory reconciliation, and customer liaison on site
Qualifications
- A current, valid driver’s licence appropriate for the vehicle class (with all necessary endorsements)
- Substantial experience (minimum 2+ years) driving heavy trucks (e.g. removal, freight, long haul, etc.)
- Proven record of safe driving, clean driving history (no serious offences)
- Ability to load, unload, and secure freight safely, and work physically as required
- Good understanding of WHS / safety procedures in transport / removals
- Strong reliability, punctuality, professionalism, and customer service skills
- English language competence sufficient to understand safety instructions, communicate with dispatch / customers, read maps / routing instructions, etc
Benefits
- Competitive base salary between AUD 77,000 and AUD 90,000 depending on experience, vehicle class, and role
