Job Title: Environmental Protection Team Manager Location: Newcastle-Under-Lyme Length: 6 Months + Rate: £40 per hour+ About the Role: We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Environmental Protection Team Manager to lead and manage our Environmental Protection Team. This is an exciting opportunity for a professional to make a real difference by overseeing and delivering essential environmental protection services, ensuring high standards of public health and safety are maintained. As the Environmental Protection Team Manager, you will be responsible for managing day-to-day operations within the team, delivering a range of statutory functions, and ensuring the effective and efficient use of resources. Your leadership will drive the team to achieve excellence, improving service delivery and supporting a culture of continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities: * Lead and manage the Environmental Protection Team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, customer-focused services. * Oversee statutory functions including the regulation of pollution control, air quality management, contaminated land, and private water supplies. * Ensure compliance with environmental legislation and corporate policies, providing expert advice and guidance on environmental health matters. * Manage the service’s budget and resources effectively, ensuring financial objectives are met and value for money is achieved. * Develop and implement service plans, performance indicators, and targets, regularly monitoring and reporting on progress. * Build a high-performing, motivated team by providing leadership, guidance, and support to staff. * Represent the service in internal and external meetings, liaising with key stakeholders to improve environmental health outcomes. * Lead and oversee investigations into statutory nuisances and provide expert testimony at courts and tribunals when required. * Promote and support transformational change, encouraging innovation within the service area. About You: We are looking for a qualified Environmental Health Officer (EHRB registered) with significant experience in environmental protection and team management. You should have a strong understanding of relevant environmental legislation and be committed to delivering a high standard of service. Experience in managing budgets, leading a team, and driving continuous improvement will be crucial. You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively both internally and with external partners. A proactive approach to problem-solving and a passion for public health and safety are essential. Essential Skills and Qualifications: * Degree in Environmental Health or equivalent, with EHRB registration. * Significant experience in environmental health, with a focus on environmental protection. * Proven track record of managing teams and delivering high-quality services. * Strong understanding of environmental legislation and regulatory frameworks. * Excellent communication skills and ability to influence at all levels. * Experience in budget management and resource allocation. * Ability to lead, motivate, and develop a team of professionals.
