Know Your Charges

Before the interview, take some time to understand the specific needs of the children you'll be caring for. Familiarise yourself with Montessori methods and how they can be applied to a 15-month-old and a teenager with autism. This shows the family that you’re not just qualified but genuinely interested in their children's development.

Showcase Your Experience

Prepare examples from your past roles that highlight your experience with similar age groups and situations. Whether it’s managing school pick-ups or preparing healthy meals, having concrete examples ready will demonstrate your capability and confidence.

Be Ready for Practical Questions

Expect questions about daily routines, handling challenging behaviours, and your approach to household tasks. Think through scenarios you might face and how you would handle them. This will help you articulate your thought process and reassure the family of your maturity and professionalism.

Bring a Personal Touch

Consider bringing a small portfolio or a list of activities you could do with the children, especially those that align with a gentle approach. This not only showcases your creativity but also gives the family a glimpse into how you plan to engage with their kids.
