Fox Construction Recruitment are currently recruiting for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our highly successful Client's specialist joinery company, based in Northampton. The Company specialises in the installation of fire doors and associated on site joinery works.

Personal Attributes:

  • Excellent communication skills appropriate to the role, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work as part of a team, as well as having the initiative and confidence to be proactive in dealing with opportunities or potential crises without the need to be told what to do.
  • A level of IT skills appropriate to the role, proficient and comfortable using standard Microsoft applications, with higher levels of knowledge of Excel and Outlook essential.
  • Driving licence.
  • Qualifications relevant to the role.
  • Experience working in the industry, either directly for a Main Contractor or a company subcontracting to the Main contractor.
  • Construction knowledge, preferably Joinery.
  • Organised, committed and flexible to differing contractor requirements.
  • Contacts within the industry that will generate work opportunities.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Produce detailed and accurate tender submissions from both drawings and specifications or from Bills of Quantities.
  • Knowledge of JCT and NEC Contracts.
  • Ensure valuations are submitted accurately and on time with all relevant backup.
  • Ensure dayworks are dealt with in a timely manner as per the site procedure.
  • Ensure time sheets are checked and submitted on time as per the site procedure.
  • Assist with cash flow projections.
  • Ensure invoices are coded accurately and submitted to accounts as per the finance procedure.
  • Involved in setting price work rates for operatives.
  • Manage project costs and report to Directors.
  • Prepare final account and get approved by management.
  • Ensure cash flow forecasts are produced and kept up to date for each project.
  • Review and improve current procedures to ensure fit for purpose.
  • Maintain, develop, and nurture relationships with current clients.
  • Connect with and develop relationships with new/potential clients.
  • Attend prestart meetings for successful tenders.
  • Attend meetings to feedback monthly CVR reports.
  • Provide early warnings on any contracts performing above or below expectations.
  • Assist in the formation of annual and quarterly budgets regarding current contracts.
  • Be proactive in improving the systems and customer experience.
  • Ensure all opportunities and risks are explored and clearly identified to the management team.
  • Always adhere to the company values.
  • Assist with weekly reporting to our client's site team.
