We are looking for experienced HGV Class 1 Drivers to join our chilled distribution operation based in Newton Abbott. In your role as a HGV Driver, you will be operating refrigerated articulated vehicles, delivering and collecting chilled stock from Local and Regional Distribution Centres as well as Farms and Packhouses across the UK.
Shifts: Friday to Tuesday Days (Start time between 05:00 and 07:00)
Salary: Guaranteed annual salary of £40,580, Average hourly rate £15.61, Guaranteed 50 hours per week, Overtime paid at enhanced rates.
What you'll be doing:
- Carrying out chilled distribution deliveries to local and regional distribution centres, as well as Farms and Packhouses.
- No requirement to self tip, Stores responsibility to load and unload.
- Collecting equipment or returns from customer locations and bringing them back to site.
- Report to the Transport team at the start of each shift and keep them updated on delays, delivery issues or load discrepancies.
- Complete all paperwork accurately and ensure PODs are signed and returned to the Transport Office.
- Follow company procedures, including health, safety and hygiene standards.
- Manage your working time in line with the Road Transport Directive and tachograph rules.
- Complete daily vehicle checks and report defects correctly and take responsibility for your unit and trailer, including temperature checks where required.
- Maintain a professional standard of behaviour, appearance and customer service at all times.
Qualifications:
- Possession of LGV Class 1 Licence.
- Current CPC.
- Knowledge of Road Transport Directive and current drivers hours.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work efficiently and accurately under pressure.
- Effectively prioritise workload in order to meet set deadlines.
