Position Overview

We're looking for an FP&A Director to take ownership of the company's P&L modelling and planning cycles, and to lead a small FP&A team, working closely with the SVP, Finance & Accounting.

This is a hands-on role — you'll be in the model and in the detail, not just directing others' work. You'll lead and develop a small team, help modernize how the FP&A function works (including where automation and AI can remove manual effort), and be a reliable contributor to board and leadership reporting. You'll operate in a fast-paced, PE-backed environment, so accuracy, clear communication, and the ability to deliver to a deadline matter as much as technical skill.

Primary Responsibilities

P&L modelling & planning

  • Own and maintain the company's P&L model day-to-day, keeping it accurate, current, and ready for review by the SVP.
  • Lead the mechanics of the annual budget, quarterly reforecasts, and long-range plan, working closely with the SVP on key assumptions and direction.
  • Build scenario and sensitivity views that support decision-making, flagging major judgement calls to the SVP rather than deciding unilaterally.

Team leadership & development

  • Lead, manage, and develop a small FP&A team — setting priorities, allocating workload, and holding a high bar on quality and turnaround.
  • Actively coach and develop junior talent, building a bench of analysts capable of taking on more complex, judgement-driven work over time.
  • Create a team culture defined by accuracy, ownership, and pace — one that can be trusted with output that goes straight to senior leadership without heavy rework.

Systems, automation & AI

  • Identify and drive improvements to FP&A systems, tooling, and process — reducing manual effort and closing gaps in data quality and reporting speed.
  • Bring experience applying AI and automation to FP&A workflows (e.g. reporting, variance analysis, forecasting) to free up team capacity for higher-value analysis.
  • Partner with Finance Systems / Data teams to modernize the FP&A tech stack as the business scales.

Insight, communication & stakeholder management

  • Deliver analysis and insight that supports decisions made by the SVP and leadership team — not just numbers on a page.
  • Translate financial detail into clear, concise narratives for audiences ranging from department heads to the board.
  • Help prepare board and investor materials to the standard a PE board expects — precise, well-sourced, and able to hold up under questioning — in partnership with the SVP.
  • Build strong working relationships across the business, acting as a trusted finance partner to functional leaders.

Ownership & delivery

  • Manage day-to-day priorities independently in a fast-paced environment, exercising sound judgement and escalating bigger calls to the SVP.
  • Flag opportunities to improve FP&A tools, process, or output quality, and bring recommendations forward rather than just problems.

Key Skills and Competencies

  • The P&L model and plan are accurate, current, and trusted by the SVP, with minimal rework needed.

  • The FP&A team is developing visibly — junior analysts are taking on more complex work, and the team's output requires less senior review over time.

  • At least one meaningful system or process improvement (including AI-enabled automation) has measurably reduced manual effort or improved reporting speed/accuracy.

  • Board and leadership materials are consistently clear, accurate, and ready ahead of deadline.

Preferred Experience and/or Qualifications

  • Proven, robust P&L modelling experience, including ownership of full plan-setting cycles (budget, reforecast, long-range plan).
  • Experience leading and developing a small team, including task management and hands-on coaching of junior talent.
  • Track record of driving system, process, or automation improvements within FP&A — experience applying AI to finance workflows is a strong plus.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to flex from technical detail to a clear narrative for senior stakeholders.
  • A demonstrated record of insight delivery: analysis that has directly influenced business decisions, not just reporting that describes them.
  • A driven, independent operator — comfortable owning delivery under pressure, while knowing when to bring the SVP in on bigger calls.
  • Experience operating in a PE-backed or similarly high-scrutiny, fast-paced environment strongly preferred.
  • Advanced Excel/modelling skills required; experience with modern FP&A/BI tooling (e.g. Anaplan, Adaptive, Power BI) and finance automation platforms is a plus.
