Job Title: Senior Estimator (Multi-Utilities)
Location: West Midlands – Hybrid
Salary: £70,000 + car/car allowance
Fourblue have teamed up with a leading provider of multi-utility services, specialising in a diverse range of sectors including water, electricity, gas, EV charging, ductwork, and civil works. Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to join their dynamic team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in expanding the business, working on challenging and varied projects across the utilities sector.
Role Overview:
As a Senior Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates and tender submissions for a wide range of projects, including underground pipelines, utilities, and minor civils works. You will work closely with various teams to ensure all estimates are delivered to the highest standard, on time, and aligned with client and company expectations.
Responsibilities of the Senior Estimator:
- Evaluate project scope, risk, and pricing strategies for all workstreams
- Produce comprehensive and accurate estimates, including tender submissions, for utilities and civils works in a timely and efficient manner with minimal supervision
- Use RIB CCS Candy iTWO software and company master libraries to generate estimates from first principles
- Prepare draft designs, estimates, and proposals in line with client specifications, including creating design sketches using PDF Xchange Editor where required
- Perform thorough self-reviews prior to peer reviews and approval requests
- Stay informed of industry developments, technical bulletins, and best practices
- Prepare sign-off and commercial documents for review by the Head of Estimating/Directors
- Support business development efforts by contributing to work-winning activities and attending client-facing meetings for technical support and advice
- Lead tender meetings with operations teams to produce construction programmes and ensure a seamless handover of information for project delivery
- Liaise with operations to establish scope of works and manage variations throughout the project lifecycle
- Work closely with construction and operations teams to ensure technical and operational requirements are understood and addressed in tenders
- Provide training and support to estimating trainees and assist with the development and implementation of training plans
- Collaborate with the wider business to improve systems, processes, and capabilities, contributing to the overall success of the team and company
Skills & Experience:
- Proven experience as an Estimator, ideally in the utilities or construction sector
- Strong knowledge of estimating software, including RIB CCS Candy iTWO, and the ability to create accurate estimates from first principles
- Excellent understanding of NRSWA requirements, Codes of Practice, and industry standards
- Strong business and project management skills, with experience in budgeting, procurement, and tendering processes
- Experience working across multi-utility projects, including water, gas, electricity, and civils
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to collaborate across teams and with clients
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work to tight deadlines
