Senior Consultant – Ecology & Biodiversity
We are looking for a motivated Senior Consultant to lead and deliver a range of ecology and biodiversity projects, supporting clients while ensuring high-quality technical outcomes.
The role will involve managing projects from inception through to completion, contributing to larger-scale projects and providing technical expertise across a variety of ecological disciplines.
Key responsibilities
- Carrying out and reviewing Preliminary Ecological Appraisals (PEAs)
- Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) assessments
- BREEAM Ecology reports and protected species surveys
- Undertaking BNG calculations and biodiversity mapping using QGIS and the Statutory Biodiversity Metric.
The role will also involve producing technical reports and proposals, attending client meetings, liaising with consultants and external stakeholders, and providing technical QA.
You will also play an important role in supporting, mentoring and line-managing junior team members, while contributing to wider project teams and helping to deliver successful outcomes for clients and biodiversity.
The ideal candidate will have
- A relevant degree in ecology, biology, environmental science or a similar discipline
- Strong experience in ecological consultancy
- Experience with QGIS, BNG, bat surveys, protected species surveys
- PEA work and BREEAM would be highly desirable
- Excellent organisation, report writing, communication, time management and project management skills are essential
