Project Engineer – OHL
Scotland
Circa £65,000 + vehicle/allowance + stay-away package
Fourblue have partnered with a company who specialise in delivering complex electrical infrastructure projects across the UK. Their portfolio includes private networks, IDNO and DNO interface projects, underground and overhead cabling, and EV charging infrastructure. Known for combining technical precision with compliance, they manage the full delivery lifecycle.
They are delivering major infrastructure projects across Scotland and are now seeking Project Engineers to strengthen their delivery team.
This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in the planning, coordination and execution of high-voltage overhead line projects. You'll work closely with design teams, contractors and clients to ensure complex schemes are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest standards.
Responsibilities of the Project Engineer:
- Leading engineering activities for overhead line projects typically ranging from 132kV to 400kV
- Reviewing and approving technical designs, method statements and risk assessments
- Coordinating with civil, electrical and structural teams to ensure integrated project delivery
- Managing site surveys, route selection and environmental considerations
- Ensuring compliance with DNO and National Grid standards, CDM regulations and health & safety requirements
- Supporting procurement and tendering for materials and subcontractors
- Monitoring progress, resolving technical challenges and reporting against key milestones
- Conducting quality assurance checks and overseeing commissioning activities
Criteria of the Project Engineer:
- Degree in Electrical, Civil or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent experience)
- Proven experience on transmission or distribution overhead line projects
- Familiarity with UK transmission standards (ENA, NGTS, BS)
- Experience with design tools such as PLS-CADD or AutoCAD is highly desirable
- Knowledge of project management principles (APM, PRINCE2 or similar)
- Valid UK driving licence and willingness to travel
