We are working with an independent London based consultancy, specialising in engineering and sustainability solutions, helping clients integrate environmental strategies into building design, product development, and business operations. They are seeking a Principal/Associate level consultant to lead, support and mentor their junior staff with NABERS design for performance, IES VE and ApacheHVAC.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead dynamic simulation and advanced building performance modelling (e.g. using IES VE).
- Conduct thermal comfort, overheating, daylighting, and climate-based simulations.
- Develop energy efficiency strategies, including passive design and fabric improvements.
- Assess low-carbon and renewable technologies.
- Support compliance modelling (Part L, TM54) and input into sustainability certifications.
- Present technical analysis to clients and design teams.
- Develop best practice for NABERS work.
- Contribute towards business development of the business.
- Mentor junior consultants on modelling best practices.
What We're Looking For:
- In depth technical knowledge of building physics.
- Strong technical expertise in dynamic simulation and building performance modelling (preferably IES VE).
- Solid understanding of UK building regulations, especially Part L, TM54, and TM52.
- Experience with thermal comfort, overheating, and daylighting analysis.
- Proven ability to develop passive design and energy strategies.
- Familiarity with sustainability frameworks (e.g. BREEAM, LEED, WELL).
- Strong communication skills for presenting technical information to clients and stakeholders.
- Ability to manage projects and collaborate across multi-disciplinary teams.
- Experience mentoring or supporting junior team members.
- A relevant degree in engineering, sustainability, or building physics.
- Chartered status or working towards chartership (e.g. CIBSE, IMechE) is desirable.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience:
- At least 5 years experience within a related role.
- Relevant engineering degree.
- Proficient working with IES VE and ApacheHVAC.
- Knowledge and experience of NABERS design for performance and CIBSE TM54 modelling.
- Great experience with face to face delivery to customers.
- Knowledge of HVAC systems and controls.
- Ability to lead a team.
- Qualified to produce domestic/non domestic EPC's.
- CIBSE qualified.
- NABERS Energy in use certified.
- IES and ApacheHVAC completed courses.
