£65,000 + company vehicle + 28 days holiday & BH
A tier 1 contractor supporting the delivery of major highways and transport projects across the country, are now looking to strengthen their environmental team with an Ecologist to support a growing pipeline of work across design, construction, and maintenance schemes.
This is a great opportunity to join an expanding in-house ecology function where you’ll be involved in both fieldwork and consultancy-style project support on a wide range of infrastructure projects.
You’ll work across multiple projects, supporting ecological surveys, reporting, and environmental compliance throughout the lifecycle of infrastructure delivery.
Responsibilities of the Ecologist:
- Undertaking habitat and protected species surveys
- Supporting Ecological Clerk of Works (ECoW) activities on site
- Producing ecological reports and assessments
- Assisting with Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) assessments and condition surveys
- Supporting mitigation strategies and environmental compliance
- Working closely with design, construction, and operational teams
- Travelling to sites across the region and occasionally further afield
- Contributing to environmental best practice across infrastructure projects
- Experience in ecological field surveys and reporting
- Knowledge of UK Habitat Classification and protected species surveys
- Understanding of ecological legislation, policy, and guidance
- Ability to manage workload in a fast-paced project environment
- Strong communication skills with internal and external stakeholders
- Willingness to travel and stay away when required
- Full UK driving licence
