A leading UK-based ecommerce business operating in a high-value online environment is looking to appoint a talented UX/UI Designer to take ownership of the visual and user experience direction of their website and digital outputs. The website sits at the heart of the business, supporting complex customer journeys and high-value transactions. Significant investment is being made into the ongoing development of the platform, with a strong focus on enhancing visual quality, usability and overall brand presentation. This is a UI-first role with strong UX foundations, ideal for a designer who enjoys hands-on visual design while applying structured UX thinking to create clean, intuitive and high-performing digital experiences.
The Role
Working closely with development and marketing teams, you will lead the visual direction of the website, modernising and refining its look and feel while ensuring outstanding usability and performance. Alongside core website design, you'll also support wider design needs across marketing and brand assets.
Key Responsibilities
- Designing and improving website components, page layouts and user flows
- Owning and evolving the visual direction of the website
- Creating modern, clean and engaging UI designs
- Collaborating with developers to ensure designs are practical and accurately implemented
- Supporting front-end development with an understanding of responsive design and CSS principles
- Designing navigation, product pages, landing pages and conversion-focused components
- Building consistency through reusable components and patterns
- Supporting wider design needs such as email layouts, campaign visuals and hero imagery
- Working within brand guidelines while helping to elevate overall visual standards
- Taking ownership of design quality and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement
Skills & Experience
- 3-5+ years' experience in UX/UI design, with a strong emphasis on visual/UI design
- A high-quality portfolio showcasing modern web design (essential)
- Proficiency with tools such as Figma, Adobe XD or similar
- Strong understanding of layout, typography, colour, spacing and visual hierarchy
- Experience designing for responsive, mobile-first websites
- Ability to balance aesthetics with usability and performance
- Strong visual judgement and attention to detail
- Comfortable collaborating with developers (HTML/CSS knowledge beneficial)
- Ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively
- Clear communication skills and confidence explaining design decisions
- Experience within ecommerce or conversion-focused environments
- Experience producing marketing or campaign visuals
