About My Client
I am working on a retained basis with a dynamic and growing manufacturing business. We’re looking for a hands-on Financial Controller to lead their finance function, ensuring strong financial management, compliance, and strategic insight to support business growth.
The Role
As Financial Controller, you will oversee day-to-day finance operations, ensuring smooth cash flow management, robust financial controls, and accurate reporting. You’ll work closely with senior management to provide financial insights and drive process improvements, helping shape the company’s strategic direction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the finance function, including two part-time Financial Administrators.
- Oversee cash flow, financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.
- Produce and interpret monthly management accounts, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Manage balance sheet reconciliations and statutory reporting (HMRC, Companies House).
- Develop financial dashboards and reports to aid strategic decision-making.
- Maintain and enhance internal financial controls and compliance.
- Drive process optimisation and automation to improve financial efficiency.
- Provide financial analysis and insight to support commercial decisions.
- Manage the annual audit process and liaise with external auditors.
What We’re Looking For:
- Qualified accountant (ACCA, ACMA, or equivalent).
- Experience managing a finance team within a manufacturing or product-based business.
- Strong knowledge of financial controls, cash flow forecasting, and cost management.
- Advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables, Data Analysis).
- Ability to translate financial data into meaningful insights for non-financial stakeholders.
- Familiarity with Sage (or similar accounting software).
- A proactive mindset with a passion for continuous improvement.
