An established and growing accountancy practice is expanding its bookkeeping team following a series of successful business acquisitions. This growth has created an exciting opportunity for an experienced Bookkeeper to join a busy, supportive office environment in Dudley. This role will suit someone who enjoys structure, thrives on process, and is confident handling a varied portfolio of clients across different bookkeeping styles and systems.
You'll be responsible for full-cycle bookkeeping for a portfolio of clients ranging from small businesses to larger organisations, working closely with senior accountants and managers to deliver accurate, timely financial information.
Key Responsibilities- Maintaining records across various formats and bookkeeping systems
- Posting sales invoices, credit notes, receipts and allocations
- Processing purchase invoices electronically and manual entry
- Bank, credit card and petty cash reconciliations
- Reviewing and correcting aged or misposted balances
- Posting journals (e.g. wages, loan interest)
- Preparing customer and supplier statements
- Trial balance and nominal ledger reconciliations
- Preparing and submitting VAT Returns across different schemes
- Understanding and processing CIS (contractors and subcontractors)
- Liaising directly with clients and third parties (including HMRC)
- Resolving bookkeeping queries efficiently and professionally
- Sage 50, Sage Business Cloud, Xero, QuickBooks
- Bank feeds and integrations
- Microsoft Office (particularly Excel, Outlook and Word)
- Document management, scanning and server-based systems
You’ll bring 3-5 years' bookkeeping experience, gained specifically within an accountancy practice, and be confident working to deadlines while managing multiple clients. You’ll be:
- Reliable, process-driven and highly organised
- Confident communicating with clients and colleagues
- Comfortable juggling multiple tasks
- Proactive, detail-oriented and commercially aware
- A collaborative team player with a "can-do" attitude
- Sage, Xero or QuickBooks certifications an advantage
- Flexible working hours with a 8:00am - 9:30am start window
