Salary: £28,000 - £30,000 (full‑time permanent)

The Opportunity

We’re working with a growing and well‑established organisation looking to appoint a Purchase Ledger Clerk to join their busy finance team.

This role will play a key part in maintaining the accuracy and efficiency of the purchase ledger function, ensuring smooth financial operations across the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Processing a high volume of purchase invoices, ensuring accurate coding and matching to purchase orders and goods received notes
  • Reconciling supplier statements on a monthly basis and resolving any discrepancies promptly
  • Monitoring and chasing outstanding or missing invoices with suppliers
  • Maintaining accurate and compliant financial records in line with company procedures
  • Preparing mid-month and month-end purchase ledger runs
  • Managing weekly payment runs
  • Supporting reporting processes and providing analysis related to the purchase ledger
  • Liaising with suppliers to resolve queries and discrepancies professionally
  • Processing staff expenses and company credit card transactions
  • Providing general support to the finance team, including administrative tasks and data entry
  • Utilising Sage 50 and internal systems to manage financial data efficiently

About You

  • Previous experience within a Purchase Ledger role
  • Strong attention to detail and high levels of accuracy
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Confident communicator, particularly when liaising with suppliers
  • Experience using Sage 50 (or similar accounting systems)
  • Proficient in Excel and Outlook
