Trainee Finance Assistant Location: Worcestershire (Office-based) Salary: £23,000 – £27,000 DOE Type: Full-time | Permanent Experience with Sage 50 and strong Excel skills preferred but not essential as this is a trainee role. I\’m working with a growing organisation in Worcestershire that is looking to appoint a Trainee Finance Assistant to support their busy finance team. This is a great opportunity for someone who has either recently completed (or is close to completing) their AAT Level 4 qualification and is looking for a varied role with room to develop and take on more responsibility, or somebody looking to do their AAT with study support. (The successful person would be expected to do their studies outside of their working hours) The team is collaborative and fast-paced, so would suit someone who enjoys working across multiple areas of finance and is confident building relationships with both finance and non-finance stakeholders. Trainee Finance Assistant Responsibilities: Assist with monthly management accounts, including journal postings and reconciliations Prepare and post accurate month-end journals (accruals, prepayments etc.) Complete daily and monthly bank reconciliations Assist with cash postings and employee expense processing Support with internal and external audit prep, including documentation and schedules Help manage the purchase ledger: matching invoices to POs, data input, reconciling supplier statements, and resolving queries Liaise with internal stakeholders regarding aged debt and cash collections Maintain and update finance process documentation Contribute to team projects and support wider finance activity as needed Trainee Finance Assistant Profile: AAT Level 3 or 4 (studying, qualified or open to study support for this) High attention to detail with a methodical approach to work Strong Excel skills (VLOOKUPs, PivotTables etc.) Familiarity with Sage 50 or similar accounting software is desirable Strong communication skills, both written and verbal Highly organised, able to prioritise tasks effectively in a deadline-driven environment Team player with a proactive, can-do attitude What\’s On Offer: Salary between £23,000 – £27,000 (depending on experience) Opportunity to grow into a more senior finance role as experience builds Supportive, collaborative team environment Full study support available for AAT or further qualifications Real variety in day-to-day responsibilities, with exposure to both transactional and month-end processes If you\’re an aspiring finance professional looking to take on a well-rounded role in a friendly and forward-thinking team, please apply or get in touch to find out more
