The Opportunity

An established and growing accountancy firm is seeking a detail-driven and client-focused Bookkeeper to join its Outsourced Accounts team. This is a varied and hands-on position where you\’ll be the key contact for a portfolio of clients, supporting their day-to-day finance operations and building long-standing, trusted relationships.

What You\’ll Be Doing

  • Producing accurate VAT returns, submitted on time and in line with current legislation
  • Providing guidance and training clients on Xero, helping them use the software more effectively
  • Posting and reconciling payroll journals, ensuring correct reporting of payroll-related costs
  • Entering and categorising supplier and customer invoices using cloud accounting systems
  • Issuing sales invoices and monitoring client billing cycles to support cash flow management
  • Acting as the main liaison for up to 20 clients, maintaining strong communication and trust
  • Managing month-end routines, including journal entries for prepayments, accruals, and other adjustments
  • Assisting with basic management reporting and preparing files for review
  • Answering day-to-day finance queries and offering ongoing client support

  • Strong bookkeeping background, ideally from a practice or multi-client environment
  • Hands-on experience with Xero is essential
  • Solid working knowledge of VAT rules and submissions
  • Excellent communication and client service skills
  • Well-organised, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and clients
  • Strong attention to detail and pride in delivering accurate work
  • A proactive, solutions-focused mindset
  • Comfortable working both independently and as part of a wider team
