The Role: Our client, a growing SME based in Chester are looking for an experienced Management Accountant to deliver accurate and timely month-end accounts for review. In addition, you will support the Group Financial Controller by managing and developing junior finance employees, improving processes, reporting, and communication and acting as a bridge between senior finance employees and the wider finance team Key Responsibilities: Preparation of monthly management accounts up to the point of review by FC Monthly balance sheet reconciliations Preparation and posting of journals, including accruals, prepayments loans Etc. Fixed asset accounting and maintenance of the asset register Reporting and variance analysis Month-end processes and reporting VAT return preparation Processing payment runs Responsible for control of AP/AR ledgers Assisting in cost centre reviews and budgetary controls Supporting external audit and responding to audit queries Reviewing and analysing credit control activities Ensuring the finance function operates efficiently and effectively on a day-to-day basis Delegating tasks and managing workload across sales and purchase ledger clerks Handling internal queries and communicating financial information to non-finance stakeholders Management of team including 1-1s with focus on upskilling. Experience Required: ACCA/CIMA/ACA qualified, part-qualified or studying, with strong hands-on month-end experience. Experience of working within a business that undergoes external audit Strong Excel skills (VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, pivot tables, formulas) and good general system proficiency Proven experience at Management Accountant level with strong technical accounting capability A mindset of continuous improvement, with the ability to identify and implement process enhancements Highly organised, proactive, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment Strong communication skills with the ability to manage relationships across multiple internal stakeholders Ability to allocate tasks and oversee the operational workload of sales and purchase ledger clerks Comfortable managing a team
