Our client is seeking a proactive and enthusiastic individual to join their small but passionate team. This role will be the most senior finance position within the team, so they are looking for someone who is confident, capable, and comfortable taking ownership. It’s an excellent opportunity for someone who thrives in a close knit environment, enjoys working collaboratively, and is motivated by the chance to make a meaningful impact. The role could be offered on a full or part-time basis.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare accurate monthly management accounts including P&L, balance sheet, and variance analysis for companies operations and assets.
- Complete month-end close activities including balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, prepayments, and journals, ensuring timely and precise financial reporting for the company's waterway infrastructure and related business units.
- Perform basic consolidation including intercompany reconciliations and eliminations.
- Prepare weekly and monthly cash flow forecasts and monitor working capital.
- Prepare quarterly Board reporting to Group.
- Prepare the monthly supplier statements.
- Prepare the VAT returns.
- Prepare quarterly CIS returns.
- Prepare the annual budget and monitor monthly progress against the budget.
- Prepare annual financial statements.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and support audits.
- Partner with operational teams to provide financial insights.
- Support the implementation and successful rollout of a new finance system, ensuring processes, data, and controls are transitioned effectively.
Experience Required:
- Part-qualified or fully qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA or equivalent).
- Experience preparing management accounts and financial statements.
- Strong understanding of budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
- Good knowledge of accounting standards (UK GAAP/IFRS).
- Advanced Excel skills and experience with ERP systems.
