Our client, a well established business based in Bolton, is looking to recruit a hands on Senior Finance Assistant to join their finance team. Supporting the Financial Controller, you'll oversee the day to day running of the Sales Ledger and Purchase Ledger function, leading a small transactional finance team while remaining actively involved in the day to day operation. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced finance professional looking to take ownership in a varied transactional role, within a stable and supportive business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise the day to day running of the Sales Ledger and Purchase Ledger team, ensuring workloads are managed and deadlines are met.
- Provide guidance, training and support to the team, resolving queries and maintaining strong financial controls.
- Oversee customer invoicing, credit control activities, purchase invoice processing and supplier reconciliations.
- Manage transactional finance tasks including payment runs, month-end journals, bank reconciliations and reporting.
- Support month-end processes, payroll, stock reconciliations and maintenance of pricing data.
- Produce regular management reports and KPI information.
- Maintain and support the ERP system while identifying opportunities to improve finance processes.
- Build effective relationships with suppliers and internal departments to ensure the smooth running of the finance function.
Skills & Attributes:
- Previous experience within a finance environment, with strong Purchase Ledger knowledge.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines.
- Strong communication skills and a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Confident using Microsoft Excel and finance systems (ERP/Sage 200 experience advantageous).
