We are recruiting for a growing SME, looking for a flexible and commercially minded Finance Assistant to join their finance team. This is a broad and varied role combining transactional finance responsibilities with commercial reporting, data analysis and management information support. The position would suit someone who enjoys working across multiple areas of finance and reporting within a fast-paced SME environment.
Alongside core accounts responsibilities, the successful candidate will support the production and maintenance of a wide range of daily, weekly and monthly commercial and financial reports used across the business.
Key responsibilities:
- Maintain sales ledger, including setting up new accounts and credit checking
- Credit control duties, including cash collection and allocations
- Daily bank reconciliations and general finance administration
- Assist with management accounts preparation, including overheads analysis
- Prepare and post journals including accruals and prepayments
- Assist with month-end processes and balance sheet reconciliations
- Produce and maintain daily GP reporting for distribution to senior management
- Investigate low GP margins and reporting queries from internal stakeholders
- Prepare and review the aged stock report for the monthly meeting
- Prepare and update KPI reports for management
- Maintain and update Excel-based reports
- Support monthly reporting packs and presentations
- Produce ad hoc commercial and operational analysis
Skills & Experience Required:
- Previous experience within an accounts or finance assistant role
- Strong Excel skills including lookups, pivot tables and data analysis
- Good attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- Comfortable working independently and as part of a small team
- Commercial awareness and problem-solving ability
