The Financial Accountant is an integral part of the busy Finance team, with sole responsibility for overseas statutory accounts, bank postings, VAT returns, compliance and key balance sheet reconciliations across the group. The main role covers all entities within the Four Marketing Group. The following responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Banking and bank reconciliation
- Ensure timely posting of all banking entries across the Group
- Multi-currency bank reconciliation of the Group’s bank accounts
- Month end reconciliation of bank subledger to GL
- Perform month-end reconciliations between the bank subledger and the general ledger
- Process intercompany payments and allocate entries to the correct invoices
- Subsidiary statutory accounts
- Prepare annual statutory accounts for overseas subsidiaries
- Liaise with overseas accountants and respond to queries relating to statutory accounts
- Reconcile reserves between the ledger and statutory accounts
- Coordinate documentation and signatures required for accounts and tax filings
- Budget
- Prepare the annual budget for overseas tax advisor fees and other related costs
- Complete and submit budget templates to the MI team
- Work with auditors regarding quarterly corporation tax payments on account
- Compliance
- Ensure all compliance obligations are met, including property tax payments and ad-hoc US reporting requirements
- Manage Avalara compliance, including registering in new US states as needed
- Setup and oversee Netherlands compliance requirements (e.g., INTRASTAT-Arrivals setup)
- UK VAT Returns
- Run, process and check all UK VAT reports on the system
- Reconcile to VAT returns and spot check entries
- Submit VAT returns via MTD and reconcile to balance sheet
- Ensure payments are processed and posted
- Reconcile VAT to turnover quarterly
- Overseas VAT Returns
- Run, process and check all VAT reports on the system
- Work with local external accountants for European VAT returns – seven entities
- Support Fiscal Representative and OSS reporting in the Netherlands, including Intrastat and EC Sales filings
- Work with local external accountants for monthly US Sales Tax returns – five states
- Ensure all payments are processed and posted correctly
- Maintain strong working relationships with overseas accountants
- Reconcile GL, turnover and settlement accounts
- Other
- Prepare P11D for submission to payroll provider
- Manage E-invoicing compliance
- Monitor costs and raise purchase orders, particularly for overseas accountants’ fees
- Manage and respond to the Group tax and treasury email inboxes
- Support for annual audit as required
- Assist with Balance Sheet reconciliations (including but not limited to: Store Takings, Ecommerce debtors, VAT/ Sales Tax), Bank and Customer cards
- Provide cover for other Finance personnel
- Any other reasonable duties as directed by line manager
- Managing two members of staff
