Salary: £65,000–£75,000 per year

Contract: Full time, permanent

Service: New two‑bedroom Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties residential home for children and young people.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead CQC registration and all pre‑opening activity including policies, procedures, risk assessments, premises checks, and service documentation.
  • Manage day‑to‑day running of the home, ensuring safe, consistent, person‑centred care for children with EBD.
  • Recruit, induct and supervise a small multidisciplinary team; deliver training plans and competency checks to meet specialist needs.
  • Maintain robust safeguarding systems, ensure staff adherence to safeguarding procedures, and act as the home’s safeguarding lead.
  • Implement and maintain quality audits, care planning, incident reporting, medication management and CQC KLOE compliance.
  • Oversee positive behaviour support plans, risk reduction strategies and therapeutic interventions in partnership with clinicians.
  • Build and maintain relationships with local authorities, placing social workers, clinical partners, families and community services.
  • Manage budgets, rostering, agency use and procurement to ensure cost‑effective, sustainable service delivery.
  • Ensure accurate records, timely data input to provider systems and reporting against KPIs.
  • Contribute to service development, admissions planning and occupancy growth strategies.

Person specification:

  • Essential: Registered with CQC as a Registered Manager
  • Proven experience managing residential services for children and young people, ideally with EBD or complex needs.
  • Strong knowledge of CQC regulatory framework, safeguarding, and positive behaviour support.
  • Excellent leadership skills with experience recruiting, coaching and developing small teams.
  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail for documentation and data entry.
  • Resilient, adaptable and able to lead a start‑up under pressure.
  • Good communication skills for multiagency working and family engagement.
  • Full UK driving licence desirable.
