Four Corners

An exciting opportunity to shape and lead the legal function of a growing residential property business.

At Four Corners, we're focused on creating homes and neighbourhoods that work for the people who live in them.

Building on the experience and expertise of Heimstaden, one of Europe's largest residential property specialists, we combine the strength of an established organisation with the pace, ambition and agility of a growing business.

As we continue to expand, we're looking for a commercially minded, pragmatic and hands-on Head of Legal / Senior Legal Manager to take ownership of our legal and compliance activities.

This is an opportunity for an experienced residential property lawyer who wants to do more than simply advise. You'll have the autonomy to make decisions, shape processes, manage legal risk and help build a legal function that supports our continued growth.

The Role

Reporting to the Finance Director and working closely with our senior leadership team and European Group Legal function, you'll be the principal point of contact for legal matters across Four Corners.

You'll combine strategic oversight with practical, day-to-day legal support, ensuring the business receives clear, commercially focused advice.

We're looking for someone who is comfortable rolling up their sleeves, taking ownership and finding workable solutions, while recognising when specialist external legal support is required.

Key Responsibilities

Residential Property & Tenancy Law

  • Take ownership of legal matters relating to residential tenancy management across our portfolio.
  • Advise on possession proceedings, Section 8 notices, rent tribunal challenges, disrepair claims and tenancy disputes.
  • Ensure tenancy agreements, notices and processes remain legally compliant.
  • Oversee tenancy deposit protection and support arrears management.
  • Keep the business informed of legislative developments, particularly the Renters' Rights Act and Housing Act 1988.

Data Protection & Compliance

  • Lead GDPR and data protection compliance across the business.
  • Manage data subject access requests, data breaches and ICO-related matters.
  • Develop and maintain appropriate policies, processes and training.
  • Oversee escalated complaints and engagement with relevant redress schemes and ombudsman services.

Commercial & Employment Law

  • Draft, review and advise on commercial contracts and agreements.
  • Provide practical employment law advice on contracts, disciplinary matters, grievances, performance management and employee exits.
  • Maintain legal templates and guidance to support effective decision-making.

Legal Leadership & Governance

  • Act as the internal lead on legal and compliance matters.
  • Manage relationships with external solicitors and counsel, ensuring effective control of legal expenditure.
  • Support corporate governance, company secretarial matters and board reporting.
  • Provide commercially focused legal advice to the senior leadership team.
  • Help develop the legal function, with the potential to build and lead a team as the business grows.

About You

We're looking for a qualified lawyer who combines strong technical knowledge with sound commercial judgement.

You'll ideally bring:

  • A minimum of 5 years' post-qualification experience (PQE).
  • Strong expertise in residential property and tenancy law, particularly within the private rented sector or build-to-rent environment.
  • Practical experience of possession proceedings, tenancy disputes, rent challenges and disrepair matters.
  • A working understanding of GDPR, data protection and regulatory compliance.
  • Exposure to employment law and commercial contracts.
  • The confidence to advise senior stakeholders and manage external legal advisers.
  • A proactive, solutions-focused approach and the ability to operate independently.

Most importantly, you'll be someone who understands that good legal advice must also make commercial sense.

Why Join Four Corners?

This isn't a role where you'll simply inherit established processes and maintain the status quo.

You'll be joining at an exciting stage of our development, with the opportunity to influence how our legal function operates and supports the wider business.

What you can expect:

  • Genuine ownership and autonomy over the in-house legal function.
  • Direct exposure to senior leadership and commercial decision‐making.
  • The opportunity to shape legal processes and governance as the business grows.
  • The backing of an established European residential property specialist.
  • A collaborative, entrepreneurial working environment.
  • Hybrid working – four days in our Stockport office and one day working from home each week.
