The Senior Water Feature Technician is responsible for the installation support, maintenance, fault finding, repair, and technical supervision of commercial water features, fountains, filtration systems, and associated electrical and mechanical equipment. The role combines hands-on engineering expertise with leadership responsibilities, ensuring all maintenance works are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest professional standards. The successful candidate will provide technical guidance to engineers, support clients directly, and play a key role in maintaining service quality across the maintenance division. This role would suit an experienced water feature or electrically/mechanically biased maintenance engineer looking to progress into a senior technical position with leadership responsibility. The successful candidate will be confident managing technical issues on-site while supporting the development of the wider engineering team.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical Responsibilities
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on commercial water features and fountain systems.
- Diagnose and repair electrical, mechanical, and control system faults.
- Service and maintain:
- Pumps and pipework systems
- Filtration systems
- Chemical dosing systems
- UV and water treatment systems
- Lighting systems
- PLC/control panels and electrical systems
- Water level and pressure control equipment.
- Conduct testing and commissioning of water feature systems following maintenance or repair works.
- Monitor water quality and carry out chemical balancing where required.
- Ensure all systems operate safely, efficiently, and within design specifications.
- Complete site inspections and identify potential issues before failures occur.
- Support installation and small works teams on refurbishment and upgrade projects when required.
- Senior / Supervisory Responsibilities
- Provide technical support and guidance to maintenance engineers and junior technicians.
- Assist in training and mentoring engineering staff.
- Review engineer service reports and ensure corrective actions are completed promptly.
- Support scheduling and coordination of maintenance activities where required.
- Ensure company standards, procedures, and health and safety requirements are consistently maintained.
- Liaise professionally with clients, contractors, and suppliers on technical matters.
- Assist management with continuous improvement of maintenance procedures and service delivery.
- Health and Safety
- Follow all Company Health and Safety procedures and site-specific requirements.
- Conduct Risk Assessments and Safe Systems of Work before commencing tasks.
- Ensure all electrical and mechanical works comply with current regulations and industry standards.
- Maintain safe handling and storage of chemicals and maintenance materials.
- Ensure Company vehicles, tools, and equipment are maintained in safe working condition.
- Administration and Reporting
- Complete accurate service reports, maintenance records, and site documentation.
- Maintain stock control records and report required materials or spare parts.
- Use company software and mobile systems for reporting and communication.
- Respond to technical telephone and email enquiries from engineers and clients.
