Overview

The Global Head of Audience Development will be responsible for leading and executing a comprehensive audience growth strategy across multiple digital consumer technology brands (PCWorld, Macworld, Tech Advisor, TechHive and their international cousins). This individual will drive the expansion of user reach (B2C), deepen engagement, and maximize audience loyalty across all platforms, including web, mobile, social, and emerging channels. They will leverage data, content strategy, SEO, social media, and partnerships to ensure sustainable audience growth and increase revenue per user (RPU).

The role requires a strategic and data-driven leader with experience in the digital publishing space, especially in managing consumer tech content, to deliver substantial growth across global markets.

Type of contract: Permanent, full-time position
Location: Ideally London. If you are farther away from London but are willing to occasionally travel to our London office, feel free to apply.

In this role, you will work on:

  1. Audience Growth Strategy: Develop and implement a global audience development strategy that aligns with the overall business objectives, focusing on increasing unique users, page views, and audience loyalty.
  2. Data-Driven Decision-Making: Use data analytics tools and performance metrics to track audience behaviour, identify growth opportunities, and inform decision-making. Optimize strategies based on audience insights and trends.
  3. SEO & Content Optimization: Collaborate with editorial teams to ensure that content is optimized for search engines (SEO) and drives traffic growth. Stay updated on SEO best practices and algorithm changes to maintain high visibility in search rankings.
  4. Audience Engagement & Retention: Develop initiatives to increase audience engagement and loyalty, including personalized content strategies, push notifications, and engagement through social media and email marketing.
  5. Social Media & Community Building: Oversee social media strategies, ensuring content resonates with global audiences and is distributed effectively across key platforms. Grow and engage online communities around the brands.
  6. Partnerships & Syndication: Identify and build strategic partnerships to expand audience reach through content distribution, syndication, and collaborations with relevant industry influencers or media outlets.
  7. Team Leadership & Collaboration: Lead and mentor a global team of audience development professionals. Collaborate closely with editorial, product, marketing, and data teams to achieve shared goals.
  8. Monetization & Revenue Growth: Work with sales, product, and affiliate commerce teams to optimize audience strategies for revenue growth, focusing on increasing revenue per user (RPU) through targeted initiatives.
  9. Global Market Expansion: Tailor strategies to grow audiences in key international markets. Understand the nuances of regional markets and adjust audience development tactics accordingly.
  10. KPIs & Reporting: Set, monitor, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs), such as traffic growth, audience retention, time on site, and conversion rates. Regularly present performance updates and strategies to executive leadership.

Who are we looking for?

  1. Experience: 8+ years of experience in audience development or growth roles within digital publishing, with a focus on consumer technology content preferred.
  2. Leadership: Proven experience managing and growing a high-performing team in a fast-paced, digital-first environment.
  3. Digital Strategy Expertise: Deep understanding of digital media, SEO, social media marketing, email marketing, and audience analytics tools (Google Analytics, Google Search Console, Ahrefs and other third-party SEO platforms).
  4. Data-Driven Mindset: Strong analytical skills and experience in using data to drive decision-making and audience growth strategies.
  5. Global Perspective: Experience growing digital audiences in multiple international markets, understanding regional audience behaviors and cultural differences.
  6. Communication: Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate and advocate for audience growth strategies at the executive level.
  7. Collaboration: Ability to work cross-functionally with editorial, product, affiliate, and sales teams to align audience development efforts with overall business goals.
  8. Passion for Technology: Strong interest in consumer technology and understanding of trends in tech media and content consumption.
  9. Languages: Native fluency in English (both written and spoken) is a must have, any additional languages are an advantage.
