What the job involves
We’re looking for an engineer to act as an Application Support specialist comfortable in Linux scripting and Oracle database administration to support core banking solutions running alongside the FoundryOS cloud platform. This role includes ongoing administration and support of the applications and their wider ecosystem of data feeds and 3rd party connections that is critical to the day-to-day running of one of our clients. You’ll work closely as part of the Platform and Support Team to ensure the full stack of these applications, including their IaaS servers, are supported, maintained and secured. Additionally, you will be responsible for running BAU procedures and operations for the client. Alongside this core part of the role, you will also be involved in the wider FoundryOS SaaS platform with other members of the team. This role includes out-of-hours on-call support responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintaining the application environments used to run core banking operations, including monitoring, patching, performance tuning and general maintenance
- Building bash scripts to automate manual processes and monitor application uptime
- Maintaining database environments (primarily on Oracle, with some SQL Server) used by the core banking applications including monitoring, backups, patching, performance optimisation and general maintenance
- Monitoring, troubleshooting, maintaining scripts and other batch operations used by the core banking applications
- Monitoring and ensuring connectivity between core banking applications and users or third party solutions
- Handling regular technical operations processes such as export and load of data to support banking processes such as end-of-month or end-of-year
- Providing second level support to handle incidents or service requests as part of ongoing running of the applications
- Contributing to documentation, SOPs and knowledge sharing
- Identifying opportunities to automate manual tasks and improve efficiency
- Experience with server applications primarily with Linux but also some Windows Server
- Problem-solving approach — enjoy investigating issues and finding solutions
