Hours per week: 25

Location: Foundry Lane Primary School

Pay: £12.75 per hour (£14,025 per annum)

Working hours: 6.30am - 8.30am & 3.00pm to 6.00pm Monday to Friday

Working weeks: Term time only plus 5 weeks to be worked in the school holidays (44 weeks)

Paid weeks: 49.6 weeks

Accountable to: Site Manager

Gateway Central Services are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and motivated person to join our friendly site team at Foundry Lane Primary School. Applicants should be someone who is hardworking and takes pride in their work, having and insisting on high standards, so that our children have a clean and safe place to learn.

Principal Responsibilities/duties:

  • Emptying bins and removing waste to a designated area
  • Mopping
  • Sweeping
  • Spray cleaning
  • Wall washing
  • Window cleaning
  • Dusting
  • Damp wiping
  • Washing
  • Polishing
  • Sanitary appliance cleaning
  • Machine scrubbing and drying; buffing; suction cleaning (following appropriate training)
  • Specialist cleaning tasks which may include carpet cleaning, upholstery cleaning, removal of stains, chewing gum and graffiti etc, stripping and dressing/sealing floors, de‑scaling sanitary appliances
  • Operating/using domestic and industrial cleaning equipment and materials following appropriate training
  • Keeping equipment and storage areas in a clean and safe condition
  • Replenishing hygiene requisites as appropriate
  • Informing senior staff or other designated person of faults, damage and vandalism or any issue that may restrict the cleaning process
  • Securing/closing internal doors and windows as appropriate

Requirements:

Essential

  • To demonstrate that you can work on your own initiative, be part of a team, take instruction and constructive criticism
  • Have energy, enthusiasm, positivity and ability to be flexible
  • Experience in undertaking a range of cleaning duties
  • Physically fit and able to carry out manual tasks
  • Ability to plan own workload and to meet deadlines
  • Be patient, punctual, reliable and trustworthy
  • To work within agreed policies, including Health and Safety, as well as adhering to the school’s safeguarding policies and procedures
  • Ability to use own initiative to improve areas of practice

Desirable

  • Knowledge of Health & Safety COSHH regulations
  • Safeguarding awareness
  • First Aid qualification
  • Previous experience in a similar role
