About The Role
We’re looking for a London‑based Communications & Marketing Manager to take ownership of our member communications strategy and execution. This role exists to ensure our members and prospective members through our owned channels receive consistent, compelling, and mission‑aligned communications that deepen their engagement with Founders Pledge and support their philanthropic journey. You will own the lifecycle and campaign communications for our member audience, spanning email, newsletters, and member‑relevant messaging across channels. You will also contribute to broader communications initiatives while maintaining a clear member‑first focus. Working closely with the wider Communications team, you will ensure our messaging is thoughtful, clear, and impactful at every stage of the member journey.
What You’ll Do
- Own member communications
- Lead lifecycle, campaign and ad hoc communications for the member audience across email, LinkedIn and our website.
- Own and continuously improve the member communications journey, ensuring each touchpoint delivers relevance, clarity, and value (this includes member‑specific marketing collateral in addition to public communications).
- Lead email marketing
- Plan, write, and deliver member‑facing email campaigns and newsletters.
- Maintain and optimize Mailchimp infrastructure, including segmentation, automations, and reporting.
- Continuously improve performance through testing, data insights, and audience feedback.
- Support broader communications
- Contribute to non‑member communications where needed, particularly email campaigns.
- Collaborate with the team to ensure member‑relevant messaging is reflected across channels such as LinkedIn and the website.
- Support cross‑functional initiatives
- Partner with internal teams to deliver the member‑facing communications layer for major initiatives such as Giving Season, impact reports, and fund launches.
- Serve as the primary Communications liaison for Member Experience teams (Community, Advisory, Events, Growth and Fundraising), coordinating messaging, requests, and campaign support.
- Measure and improve engagement
- Track performance metrics such as open rates, click‑through rates, and engagement trends.
- Use insights to refine messaging, targeting, and timing.
- Maintain quality and consistency
- Ensure all communications reflect Founders Pledge’s brand voice, tone, and quality standards.
- Help create a coherent and joined‑up member experience across email, LinkedIn, and web channels.
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for an enthusiastic, thoughtful communicator who combines strong writing skills, marketing discipline, and ownership of the full communications lifecycle.
Ideally, You Bring
- Proven experience managing email marketing or member/subscriber communications end‑to‑end.
- Excellent copywriting skills, with the ability to write clearly and compellingly for a high‑value audience, especially on more technical or academic topics.
- Hands‑on experience with email marketing platforms (Mailchimp or similar), including segmentation, automations, and reporting.
- Hands‑on experience with websites as a key communication channel from the point of view of wireframing, copywriting, and visual assets as part of storytelling.
- A data‑driven mindset, using engagement metrics to improve performance.
- Strong project management skills, able to manage multiple campaigns and stakeholders simultaneously.
- Experience contributing to professional social media channels, particularly LinkedIn.
- High attention to quality, tone, and brand consistency.
- A strong interest in social impact and mission‑driven work.
Nice to have
- Experience working in a nonprofit, philanthropy, or membership‑based organization.
- Familiarity with donor or high‑net‑worth audience communications.
- Experience mapping or improving communications journeys.
- Knowledge of email deliverability best practices and GDPR compliance.
