We're looking for a process-driven, detail-oriented Finance Executive to own the day-to-day financial operations of a scaling law firm. You'll be the engine that keeps the finance function running: managing accounts receivable, executing payment runs, maintaining financial records, and ensuring the Head of Finance has clean, accurate data to work with. It's a highly valuable and strategic execution role. You'll own processes end-to-end - from chasing overdue invoices to drafting the monthly billing run, overseeing the maintaining of the bookkeeping ledger to prep data for VAT returns. The Head of Finance will retain strategic oversight, sign-off authority, and all sensitive financial decisions, but the day-to-day of the business sits with you. If you're organised, enjoy bringing order to complexity, and want to build genuine expertise and energy in scaling finance operations, this role will give you significant ownership and a clear development pathway.

What we're looking for?

  • 2–4 years' experience in a finance, bookkeeping or accounts role.
  • Demonstrated experience managing invoicing, AP/AR processes and reconciliations.
  • Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy.
  • Comfortable with modern accounting systems (Xero preferred).
  • Experience supporting month-end close processes.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple concurrent deadlines without fail.
  • Proactive approach to resolving discrepancies.
  • Clear written and verbal communication - you'll be the day-to-day finance contact for internal teams and external clients.
  • High integrity and discretion with financial data.
  • Willingness to own a process fully once it's been handed over.
  • AI curious and proficient.

Preferred experience in:

  • Experience within a law firm or professional services environment (client billing, WIP tracking, disbursements).
  • Experience integrating finance systems with operational tools (e.g., practice management software syncing with accounting platforms).
  • Scale-up business experience.
  • Studying towards or holding a finance or accounting qualification (AAT, part-qualified ACCA/CIMA, or equivalent) - not required, but creates a clear development pathway.

Key accountabilities

  • Accounts Receivable - Full Process Ownership: Maintain AR process. Own client comms on outstanding balances, payment timelines and standard collection processes.
  • Accounts Payable: Execute the AP runs and escalate when necessary.
  • Bookkeeping & Financial Records: Overseeing that the maintaining of bookkeeping is accurate and timely.
  • Invoicing: Be the executive of the invoicing runs, draft, validate, send, chase.
  • Dashboard & Reporting Support: Work with team lead to ensure accuracy across all internal reporting.
  • VAT & Compliance Support: Work with accountants to maintain bookkeeping for VAT return. Support the compliance team.
  • Scheduling & Admin: Schedule all recurring finance meetings using the scheduler. Maintain the finance calendar and ensure key deadlines are flagged in advance.
