A mission-led organisation in the middle of a major data and technology transformation is building out its data engineering capability and hiring two Data Engineers to help shape the enterprise data platform from the ground up. This is a genuine build role. You will design and run the pipelines, integrations and curated datasets that power reporting, analytics and decision-making across the business, working alongside data analysts, architects and application engineers in a modern Azure environment.
What you will be doing:
- Building and maintaining batch and event-driven data pipelines within the enterprise data lake
- Developing curated datasets and data marts aligned to the logical data model
- Translating business and technical requirements into scalable ingestion and transformation solutions
- Maintaining data lineage, metadata and contributions to the data catalogue
- Working to modern engineering standards: CI/CD, automated testing, clean code
- Providing L3 support for data platform services where needed
What we are looking for:
- Strong hands-on Python (including PySpark) and SQL
- Real experience building data lakes and ingestion pipelines on Azure
- Event-driven or integration-based data solutions across enterprise systems
- Solid grounding in data governance, lineage and quality
- Comfortable in agile delivery (Scrum) and explaining data concepts to non-technical audiences
What is on offer:
- Salary £55,000 to £66,000 depending on experience
- Hybrid working, largely remote, with occasional on-site days in the Bradford area (as little as once or twice a month for the right remote candidate)
- The chance to help build a data platform rather than just maintain one, inside a sizeable transformation programme
