We are seeking a highly organised and proactive Strategic Operations Manager to join a Retail Operations team. This office-based role in Central London is a key position supporting the management and performance of a diverse portfolio of shopping centres and retail parks across the UK – from Inverness to Plymouth.
The role has two main areas of focus:
- Team Leadership – You will directly manage a team of 4 Operations Coordinators, ensuring compliance, consistency, and professional development across the group. You’ll be their first point of support, helping to resolve queries, maintain high operational standards, and foster a collaborative working environment.
- Operational Support & Strategy – Working closely with our Regional Facilities Managers, you’ll support the delivery of exceptional property operations across the portfolio. This includes monitoring performance and compliance, coordinating training, supporting project delivery, and assisting with budgeting and financial oversight.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who thrives in a dynamic, multi-site retail environment and enjoys balancing hands-on operational support with strategic oversight but would also like to step away from being hands on.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Facilities Coordinators.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards across all sites.
- Support Regional Facilities Managers with performance tracking, project delivery, and budget management.
- Organise training programmes and maintain accurate compliance and risk management records.
- Act as a central point of contact between internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of operational processes and systems.
About You…
You’ll be an experienced property or facilities management professional with a strategic mindset and strong leadership skills. You understand what it takes to run safe, compliant, and high-performing retail assets, and you’re comfortable managing multiple priorities across a wide portfolio.
- Proven experience in property operations or facilities management.
- Solid understanding of Health & Safety and environmental compliance.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong organisational ability with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Familiarity with Vantify Risk Manager, Records for Buildings, and Vicinitee platforms is advantageous.
What this role offers…
- Part-time role (4 days per week) with flexibility.
- The opportunity to influence and improve operations across a UK-wide portfolio.
- A supportive, collaborative, and professional team environment.
