At Foundation Health, we’re redefining what healthcare operations look like - transforming how healthcare organizations deliver pharmacy, care coordination and direct-to-patient services. Having recently raised $20m in Series A funding, we’re accelerating product development and scaling what comes next.
We’re looking for an experienced Engineering Manager to help take our engineering teams to the next level, as we scale. This role sits right at the intersection of people, product and technology.
You’ll lead one or two high-impact teams working on AI-powered solutions that solve real operational problems in healthcare, while staying close enough to the work to influence how things are built. This is a hands-on leadership role in the truest sense. You’ll coach and develop Engineers, partner closely with Tech Leads - whilst working side-by-side with Product, Sales and Customer Success to make sure what we’re building truly delivers value.
You’ll have space to contribute technically too - whether that’s shaping architecture, reviewing code, or jumping in where it makes sense - while helping evolve a cloud-native platform designed to scale. What makes this role special is the balance. You’ll have real ownership and influence over technical direction, team culture and delivery, without being boxed into pure management or pulled away from the craft. We value thoughtful engineering, pragmatic decision-making and people who care deeply about building both great products and great teams.
Our stack is modern and cloud-native - Node.js and TypeScript on the backend, SvelteKit on the frontend, running on GCP with tools like Cloud Run, Pub/Sub and Terraform. You don’t need to have used everything, but you should be comfortable operating in this kind of environment and excited by it.
Responsibilities
- Lead one or two high-impact teams working on AI-powered solutions that solve real operational problems in healthcare, while staying close enough to the work to influence how things are built.
- Coach and develop Engineers, partner closely with Tech Leads, and collaborate with Product, Sales and Customer Success to ensure delivered work provides real value.
- Contribute technically when appropriate—shaping architecture, reviewing code, or stepping in where needed while evolving a cloud-native platform designed to scale.
- Influence technical direction, team culture and delivery with real ownership, while balancing management responsibilities with hands-on craft.
- Work in a modern, cloud-native stack and environment, comfortable with Node.js/TypeScript backend, SvelteKit frontend, and Google Cloud Platform tooling.
- Engage with teams in startup or scale-up settings; communicate effectively with engineers and senior stakeholders; experience in regulated environments like healthcare is valued.
- Operate in a remote-first environment with occasional in-person collaboration in Manchester as needed.
Qualifications
- Deep engineering experience with a few years in team leadership, ideally in startup or scale-up settings.
- Experience building products from early stages and comfort working in regulated environments like healthcare.
- Strong communication skills with engineers and senior stakeholders.
- Bonus: prior scaling of teams or experience in US healthtech.
- Willingness to work remotely with periodic travel to Manchester as required.
Benefits & Culture
In return, you’ll get the chance to work on meaningful problems, with modern tech and real-world AI use cases, in a collaborative, low-ego environment. You’ll have the autonomy to make an impact, the trust to shape how we work, and the opportunity to grow alongside a company that’s scaling fast - and thoughtfully.
If you’re excited by building things that matter, leading teams through growth, and having a genuine say in the direction of a product and a company, we’d love to talk. This role is remote-first, but you’ll need to get into Manchester when needed. We’re intentionally building an engineering culture and value getting together in person.
