We’re working with a fast-growing, purpose-driven investment organisation that’s changing the way capital is used to drive social impact. They’ve deployed over $100m globally and are now looking for a Senior Finance Manager to be the number two in finance, reporting directly to the Group Finance Director.
This is a hands-on, wide-ranging role in a lean but ambitious environment. You’ll lead day-to-day finance operations, support investment and grants teams, deliver robust reporting, and drive system/process improvements. The organisation is at an exciting point in its journey, developing a bold new five-year strategy and moving towards a more commercial fund structure.
What you’ll be doing:
- Running smooth daily finance operations, supervising junior staff and ensuring robust controls.
- Full ownership of month-end, audit, and management reporting.
- Partnering with the investment and grants teams on new funds (equity, debt, grants) and providing financial insight.
- Preparing donor reporting, management packs, budgets, forecasts, and portfolio analysis.
- Leading on system improvements, data migration, and strengthening finance/ops processes.
- Supporting strategic growth, working closely with senior leadership.
What we’re looking for:
- Fully qualified accountant (CIMA/ACCA/ACA).
- At least 2–3 years as a Finance Manager in an SME or start-up environment — exposure to “end-to-end” finance is essential.
- Strong technical grounding across FP&A, financial control, audit, and month-end.
- Investment management experience or exposure (debt/equity/grants) is highly desirable.
- Commercially minded with the ability to business-partner effectively across teams.
- Comfortable in a lean, fast-moving, mission-driven environment where no task is too small.
- Someone who genuinely wants to commit to the impact investment / social investment space — not just “testing it out”.
Why this role?
- Direct exposure to senior leadership and strategic decision-making.
- A true “number two” role — the chance to step up quickly.
- Huge learning curve: systems, portfolio analysis, strategic finance, and cross-functional exposure.
- Opportunity to help shape the future of an innovative, high-growth organisation making a global difference.
Location: Central London (hybrid working)
Salary: £65k–70k (potential flex for an exceptional profile)
Start: Immediate/short notice — interviews are being scheduled quickly with a view to starting no later than end of September.
If you’re an ambitious, hands-on Finance Manager with SME/start-up experience and a real commitment to the impact space, this is an opportunity to accelerate your career while contributing to meaningful change.
