Location: Hybrid | Normanton / Wakefield area

A fast-growing e-commerce platform based near Wakefield is looking to hire a Commercial Manager to join a high-performing digital trading team. This is not a typical commercial role. The business operates across multiple digital channels, marketplaces and international markets, managing tens of thousands of products and scaling rapidly across Europe. The team is building something ambitious and they want someone who wants to grow with it.

The Business

This is a high-growth digital commerce operation that trades across multiple channels including:

  • Amazon and international marketplaces
  • New brand launches and emerging consumer channels

The business manages over 19,000 products across multiple categories and countries, with significant investment behind its digital growth strategy. The environment is fast moving, entrepreneurial and hands on. This is not a static corporate role where everything is already built. It is a chance to work in a business where:

  • New markets are being launched
  • New commercial models are being tested
  • Teams are being built and developed

People who join the business gain exposure to large scale digital trading operations that most companies never get near.

The Opportunity

This role sits at the centre of the commercial engine of the business. You will work closely with the leadership team and digital trading managers to determine whether products, channels and commercial strategies will actually work financially. In simple terms, you will answer questions like:

  • If we launch this product on Amazon Germany, will it actually make money?
  • If we hold inventory in Amazon fulfilment centres, what does the margin look like?
  • If we source a product through a new supplier, what price do we need to buy it at for it to work?
  • If we increase advertising spend or change logistics routes, how does that affect profitability?

The role focuses heavily on contribution margin modelling. That means understanding the full cost structure behind digital commerce. Not just cost of goods, but everything underneath it:

  • Shipping
  • Marketplace fees
  • Advertising costs
  • Logistics
  • Currency movements
  • Marketplace commissions

You will work across the entire commercial structure to determine whether a product or strategy is financially viable before it is launched.

What Makes This Role Different

Most commercial roles focus on one brand or one channel. This role covers multiple countries. You will work across Amazon trading, direct websites, marketplace launches and international expansion. That exposure is extremely rare. The leadership team is also heavily invested in developing talent and building future leaders within the business. They are not looking for a finished executive. They are looking for someone hungry, curious and ready to step up into a bigger challenge. As the business grows, there will be opportunities to build teams and take on broader commercial leadership responsibility.

What You Will Be Doing

Working closely with the commercial leadership team you will:

  • Model contribution margins across products and channels
  • Analyse whether marketplace opportunities are commercially viable
  • Evaluate costs across fulfilment models and international logistics
  • Support digital trading teams in pricing and commercial strategy
  • Work with buyers to determine required purchase prices and margins
  • Assess the impact of advertising spend and marketplace fees
  • Analyse financial performance across product launches and channel expansion
  • Build commercial models using advanced Excel and data analysis

You will effectively act as the commercial reality check behind digital growth decisions.

What They Are Looking For

The ideal candidate is not necessarily someone who has done this exact role before. Instead, they are looking for someone with strong commercial curiosity and analytical capability. You might currently be:

  • A commercial analyst
  • A trading analyst
  • A finance analyst with strong commercial exposure
  • A part-qualified accountant who enjoys commercial decision making
  • A marketplace or e-commerce analyst

The most important qualities are:

  • Strong Excel and data modelling skills
  • Curiosity and willingness to ask “why”
  • Ability to interpret financial and commercial data
  • Commercial awareness and logical thinking
  • A desire to learn and develop

The leadership team can teach the marketplace mechanics. What they want is someone who is motivated to learn and grow.

The Environment

This is a role for someone who enjoys challenge. The business is scaling rapidly. Things are not always perfect. New markets are being built. New processes are being developed. Sometimes it is two steps forward and one step back. But the reward is significant experience. People who succeed in this environment come out the other side having built serious commercial capability across international e-commerce operations.

Why Join

  • Opportunity to work across international markets
  • High growth environment with significant investment
  • Direct mentorship from experienced commercial leaders
  • Clear opportunity for progression as the business grows

For someone who wants to accelerate their commercial career, this is a rare opportunity.
