An established manufacturing business is looking to recruit an experienced Toolmaker to support its internal toolroom function. This is a hands-on position focused on maintaining and repairing tooling within a live production environment, rather than purely new tool manufacture. You’ll be part of a small, skilled team supporting a fast-paced operation where tooling reliability directly impacts output.
The Role
- Manufacturing, repairing and modifying tooling to support production
- Responding to tooling breakdowns and restoring production capability
- Working from engineering drawings to tight tolerances
- Producing complex, multi-part tooling assemblies
- Carrying out manual machining operations including milling, turning and grinding
- CNC machining where required (programming at machine control beneficial)
- Supporting ongoing improvements in tooling performance
- Working closely with production teams to minimise downtime
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience working as a Toolmaker within a production environment
- Strong background in tool repair, maintenance and modification
- Confident with manual machining (milling, turning, grinding)
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Experience working to tight tolerances and deadlines
- Comfortable operating within a busy, production-led toolroom
- Flexible approach and willingness to support wider team objectives
Desirable (Not Essential)
- Experience with mould tooling or similar production tooling environments
- Exposure to high-volume or continuous manufacturing processes
- CNC milling experience (programming, setting, operating)
- Experience working within quality-controlled environments
