Job Description
Job Title: Mechanical Fitter
Reporting to: Production Supervisor
Overview of Role:
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Fitter to join the production team. This role involves the precise assembly of mechanisms, machinery, and equipment, working accurately from engineering drawings, diagrams, and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assemble prototype and production machinery following engineering drawings and procedures.
- Accurately document any modifications made during the build process using the appropriate change request forms.
- Communicate with production control teams when kits or parts are incomplete.
- Carry out modifications to existing parts using basic machine tools, including drills, lathes, and mills.
- Manufacture simple brackets, mounting plates, and basic tooling as required.
- Ensure all completed work meets required quality and technical standards.
- Collaborate and communicate effectively with senior technicians and team leaders to resolve build issues.
Skills & Experience:
Essential:
- Level 3 qualification in Mechanical Engineering or Manufacturing.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar mechanical fitting role.
- Proficiency with manual machine tools and hand tools.
- Ability to read and interpret complex technical drawings.
Desirable:
- Experience using manual lathes and mills.
- Previous experience within a highly regulated or defence-related workshop environment.

- Highly organised and methodical, with excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of tasks.

Security Clearance:
Due to the nature of the role, successful candidates must be eligible to obtain UK Security Clearance. This will require proof of identity, employment history, right to work in the UK, and a minimum of five years of continuous UK residency.
