Are you an experienced Account Manager who loves being out meeting customers, building long-term relationships and identifying opportunities to grow accounts?
We’re working with one of the UK’s leading foodservice businesses to recruit a Key Account Manager to take ownership of an established Central London territory.
This is a brilliant opportunity to inherit a customer portfolio worth approximately £5 million, while still having plenty of scope to develop the territory and win new business.
The Opportunity
You'll take responsibility for approximately 110–120 existing customers across Central London, predominantly covering W and E postcodes.
Around 60% of your time will focus on developing existing relationships, increasing share of wallet and identifying additional opportunities within your accounts.
The remaining 40% will focus on new business, identifying organisations across your territory that could benefit from the company's extensive product and service offering.
This is very much a customer-facing position.
The role is office-based, with the freedom to get out and see customers face-to-face whenever needed.
No two days are the same, with a varied mix of customer meetings, account development, new-business activity and time spent working from the office.
Rather than simply chasing call numbers, you'll be encouraged to spend meaningful time with customers, understand their businesses and build relationships that create sustainable commercial growth.
- What You'll Be Doing
- Managing and developing an established portfolio of approximately 110–120 customers.
- Taking commercial ownership of a portfolio worth around £5 million.
- Building strong, long-term customer relationships.
- Identifying opportunities to increase share of wallet.
- Cross-selling products and services across an extensive range.
- Developing territory and account plans.
- Identifying and targeting new-business opportunities.
- Meeting customers face-to-face across Central London.
- Creating commercial proposals for prospective customers.
- Negotiating and converting new accounts.
- Managing your diary and territory effectively.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for somebody who already has experience managing a B2B customer portfolio and is comfortable taking ownership of their own geographical territory.
You could currently be working within
- Foodservice
- Food & Drink
- Coffee
- Hospitality supply
- Catering supplies
- Wholesale
- Distribution
- Workplace supplies
Foodservice experience would be beneficial, but it isn't essential.
What's more important is your ability to demonstrate that you can build relationships, manage multiple accounts, grow customer spend and still recognise opportunities to win new business.
You'll need to be organised, commercially confident and capable of deciding where the biggest opportunities across your territory sit.
What's On Offer?
Alongside a basic salary, you'll receive a car allowance of around £7,500.
There's also an extremely attractive performance bonus and an especially strong new-business commission structure, offering significant additional earning potential for successful account wins.
Additional benefits include
- 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays.
- Increasing holiday entitlement with service.
- Healthcare plan.
- Strong pension scheme.
- Sales incentives and competitions.
- Career Development
This vacancy has actually been created because the current person in the role is progressing internally, which gives a great indication of the opportunities available.
Longer term, there are potential routes into areas including
- Senior Key Account Management
- Field Sales Management
- National Accounts
- National Account Executive positions
- Wider sales leadership
There are also internal development and aspiring manager programmes available for people demonstrating the right capability and ambition.
If you're an experienced Account Manager who enjoys being out with customers and wants a role where you can combine relationship management, commercial growth and new-business development, we'd love to hear from you
