Our Client is expanding due to continued growth and is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a commercial leadership team in Newcastle. This is a key role where you will take full ownership of the commercial management of a high-profile new-build project, ensuring strong financial performance, effective risk management, and successful delivery.
The Role
As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will lead all commercial activities from early strategy through to final account. You’ll work closely with project and delivery teams, providing expert contractual guidance and ensuring robust commercial governance throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Full commercial responsibility for a major new-build facility
- Develop and deliver commercial strategy aligned with business objectives
- Provide contractual advice, including reviewing and negotiating T&Cs
- Manage applications for payment and lead final account negotiations
- Oversee variations, notices, EOTs, and loss & expense claims
- Assess and value variations, identifying commercial opportunities
- Manage subcontract procurement, drafting, negotiation, and payments
- Produce monthly cost/value reports and attend commercial reviews
- Forecast revenue, GP, overheads, and net profit
- Implement effective cash management practices
- Identify and manage commercial risks and opportunities
What You’ll Bring
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor in construction (M&E experience advantageous)
- Strong commercial acumen and attention to detail
- Excellent communication, numerical, and IT skills
- Degree in Quantity Surveying or related discipline (preferred)
- Knowledge of NEC4 Option A (essential)
- Healthcare project experience (highly desirable)
- Chartered status (RICS, CIOB, CICES) preferred
- Full UK driving licence
