Permanent - Full Time (36 hours per week). Friends of the Elderly (FotE) is a not-for-profit charity dedicated to providing excellent care with a family feel, supporting older people for over 100 years. The charity provides care home and day care services for older people, as well as grants for those in financial difficulty.
Redcot, specialising in residential care, is set in the delightful town of Haslemere, Surrey. Overlooking beautiful gardens and surrounded by countryside, much of which is owned by the National Trust, Redcot is blessed with a unique, tranquil setting.
As a Shift Leader, you will be responsible for delivering person-centred care, supporting and enabling our residents to maintain key skills, personal interests, independence, choice, and dignity, so that they can lead fulfilled lives. You will ensure our residents are safe and comfortable, act as a champion for their safety and dignity, and lead the team in providing quality, individualised care in line with procedures and policies.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Keeping clear, accurate records.
- Following procedures for ordering, administering, and dispensing medication.
- Conducting supervisions and appraisals with staff and promoting their development.
- Maintaining a safe, clean workplace and following infection control protocols.
Our shift patterns include evenings, weekends, and some unsociable hours. To succeed in this role, you will need great communication and interpersonal skills to form strong relationships with residents and effectively handover information to colleagues. Number and digital skills are also required, along with the ability to problem solve and adapt to situations, and to recognise and report safeguarding needs.
You will have at least 2 years’ experience in a care setting, ideally in a senior position, and will be comfortable administering medication. With a compassionate nature and a positive can-do attitude, you will be able to supervise your peers and take the initiative. An NVQ Level 3 in health and social care and leadership training is desirable but not essential.
