We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic Supervising Social Worker to join our friendly and supportive team, contributing to the continued development of our fostering services across the Glasgow region.
With a Glasgow-based office and a flexible hybrid working model, you will benefit from a balance of office collaboration and home working.
For almost 30 years, Fosterplus has proudly supported foster carers across Scotland, with local, dedicated teams of social workers who are always close by. Together, we offer consistent support, regular groups and welcoming family events that help our fostering community feel truly connected. Everything we do is focused on ensuring young people have the opportunity to live in a family where they are valued, encouraged and supported to reach their full potential. All of our offices are rated 'Very Good' by the Care Inspectorate, demonstrating the high standards of care we provide to children and families. Our Glasgow fostering team supports foster families and children across Glasgow, Paisley, Renfrewshire, Lanarkshire, Dunbartonshire, Inverclyde, Argyll and Bute.
- Support foster carers and their families to achieve outstanding outcomes for all children and young people in foster care.
- Support and monitor the continued suitability and competence of foster carers, ensuring they provide a safe, healthy, nurturing and learning environment for children and young people.
- Ensure that carers fully understand the fostering task, competencies to be achieved and the standards expected, including complaints and representation procedures as detailed in Fosterplus policies and procedures.
- Provide and record regular supervision to allocated foster carers in line with Fosterplus' Operational Standards.
- Work in partnership in a team parenting approach to help identify any needs within foster families, e.g. respite, activities, therapy and holidays, contributing to relevant meetings and associated tasks.
- Ensure each child and foster carer is fully compliant in respect of all key documentation.
- Attend meetings and/or provide reports for commissioning teams to address individual packages of care.
- Promote participation of children and young people in the development of the agency and in accessing resources and opportunities in their local community.
- Participate in an 'out of hours' support service on a rota basis.
Requirements:
- A Social Work qualification.
- Proven ability to produce a high standard of report writing.
- A comprehensive working knowledge of relevant legislation and child safeguarding procedures.
- The willingness and ability to travel extensively.
- Confidence in transporting children and young people in sometimes challenging situations.
- Full driving licence and unrestricted access to your own vehicle.
