Job Overview:
As a Technical Architect at Foster + Partners, you will play a key role in delivering complex architectural projects, ensuring technical excellence, and maintaining the highest standards of design. You will collaborate closely with project teams, engineers, and other specialists to provide architectural solutions that balance aesthetic vision with practical and technical feasibility. Your experience will help guide the team through all phases of the design and construction process, with a focus on translating concepts into successful, innovative, and sustainable buildings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the technical design and development of architectural projects from concept to completion
- Provide expert advice on the technical feasibility of designs and contribute to creative problem-solving in a multidisciplinary team.
- Develop, review, and coordinate architectural and technical drawings, specifications, and design details.
- Collaborate with project architects, engineers, consultants, and contractors to ensure seamless integration of architectural and technical requirements.
- Oversee the implementation of design principles, materials, and construction methods, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Conduct technical analysis and feasibility studies, evaluating the potential for new technologies, materials, and construction techniques.
- Manage and oversee the technical aspects of building systems, including structural, mechanical, electrical, and environmental systems, to optimize performance and sustainability.
- Maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure technical solutions align with client goals and project requirements.
Key Requirements:
- A recognized degree in Architecture or a related field.
- Professional qualification and accreditation (e.g., RIBA, ARB, or equivalent).
- Extensive experience as a Technical Architect, with a proven track record of delivering complex architectural projects.
- In-depth knowledge of building codes, regulations, and industry standards.
- Strong technical knowledge of architectural design, detailing, and construction methodologies.
- Experience in managing interdisciplinary teams and collaborating across different technical domains.
- A solid understanding of sustainability and environmental considerations in design and construction.
- Proficiency in architectural design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, BIM, etc.), with a strong aptitude for technical documentation and 3D modelling.
