Foster + Partners, a global studio for architecture, design, and innovation, is looking for a Cataloguing Archivist to join our award-winning Communications team.
About the Role
Based in our Special Collections Archive, you’ll play a key part in cataloguing, digitising, and preserving our extensive collection of photographs and films documenting the practice’s work since 1982. Collaborating closely with our Archive and Photography teams, your mission will be to ensure long-term access to this valuable resource for both internal research and public engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Cataloguing to SPECTRUM standards using controlled vocabularies
- Digitising analogue photographs with high-end equipment
- Maintaining metadata and consistency across our image servers
- Rehousing materials into archival-quality storage
- Developing taxonomies and finding aids
- Meeting project milestones and reporting on progress regularly
What We’re Looking For:
- Experience working with photographic archives in a cultural heritage context
- Knowledge of historic and digital photographic processes
- Familiarity with cataloguing standards and digital preservation best practices
- Technical proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, Bridge, and MS Excel
- Organised, self-motivated, and able to work independently
- A keen interest in architecture and design is a plus
