Our workshop supports both routine fleet maintenance and specialist operational plant.

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced HGV Mechanic / Fitter to join our in-house workshop team. This is a flexible, hands-on role working across a varied fleet including HGVs, light vans, beavertails, water jetting machines, bitumen spray tankers and specialist installation plant. The role would suit a practical, adaptable mechanic with strong servicing and inspection experience who is comfortable supporting yard operations as well as workshop duties.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out servicing, maintenance and repairs to our extensive fleet
  • Undertake 6-weekly inspections in line with company and legal requirements
  • Diagnose mechanical faults and complete repairs efficiently and safely
  • Carry out servicing across a mixed and varied fleet
  • Use and maintain workshop tools and equipment
  • Support yard duties, including loading and unloading vehicles, forklift operation, general yard organisation and safety
  • Ensure accurate completion of inspection and service records
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping, health & safety, and compliance

Skills & Experience Required

Essential

  • Proven mechanic experience
  • HGV experience
  • Minimum Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Vehicle Maintenance / Mechanics (or equivalent)
  • Experience servicing and maintaining multiple vehicle types
  • Comfortable working on both light vans and heavy commercial vehicles
  • Flexible approach to workload and duties

Desirable

  • HGV licence
  • Forklift driving experience (or willingness to be trained)
  • Experience with specialist plant or installation equipment (not essential)
