We are looking for an experienced Vehicle Painter / Prepper to join our busy accident repair centre. This role involves carrying out high-quality paint and preparation work on damaged vehicles, ensuring all repairs meet manufacturer and company standards. You will be working as part of a skilled bodyshop team, liaising closely with other departments to maintain efficient workflow and excellent repair quality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out paintwork on damaged vehicles in line with job cards
- Prepare vehicles for paint, including sanding, masking, priming, and filling
- Apply fillers, stoppers, and carry out plastic repairs where required
- Mix paints accurately and check paint colour prior to application
- Produce spray-out cards for all colours
- Use water-based paint products
- Set and monitor oven temperature and curing times
- Set correct air pressure for spraying
- Carry out roller and spray priming
- Complete quality control and check sheets
- Order paint materials when required
- Maintain cleanliness of paint mixing rooms and work areas
- Use extraction systems at all times
- Wear full face air-fed mask and appropriate PPE (overalls)
- Ensure all equipment and plant are working correctly and report faults immediately
- Follow repair systems and filler application procedures as per Operations Manual
- Liaise with other departments to support workflow
- Report any issues to the Workshop Controller
What We’re Looking For:
- Previous experience as a Vehicle Painter / Prepper in a bodyshop or accident repair centre
- Strong attention to detail and high-quality finish standards
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Good time management and organisational skills
- Knowledge of modern repair techniques and paint systems
Full Time 40 hours per week, Location Peterborough. Ideally ATA or NVQ Certification would be advantageous. Salary based on experience.
