At Sheffield Forgemasters we have an exciting opportunity for a Lead Apprentice Training Mentor to join our team. This role is based at our 64‑acre site, sitting in the heart of Sheffield, working within our machine shops to develop and support our engineering apprentices. As a Lead Apprentice Mentor, you will deliver structured coaching, mentoring, and technical guidance to apprentices. This role ensures they develop the required knowledge, skills, and behaviours (KSBs) in line with apprenticeship standards, progress successfully to a timely End‑Point Assessment (EPA), and contribute to building a highly skilled future workforce for Sheffield Forgemasters.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Deliver one-to-one and group coaching to engineering apprentices, supporting their development against apprenticeship standards.
  • Guide apprentices in building technical competence, professional behaviours, and reflective learning skills.
  • Monitor progress, maintain accurate evidence against Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours (KSBs), and prepare apprentices for Gateway and End‑Point Assessment (EPA).
  • Conduct regular reviews, providing constructive feedback and tailored support to address development needs.
  • Collaborate with training providers, Early Careers, and operational teams to ensure a consistent and high‑quality learning experience.

About You:

  • Experience within engineering, machining, or manufacturing environments.
  • Good understanding of apprenticeship standards and End‑Point Assessment (EPA) requirements.
  • Ability to create an engaging, safe, and inclusive learning environment that supports individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Strong coaching and mentoring capability, with a passion for developing early‑career talent.
  • Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills.
  • Highly organised, with strong attention to detail in tracking progress and maintaining documentation.

The Working Pattern:

This is a full‑time role working 37.5 hours per week, Monday‑Friday, 07:45‑4pm.
