About The Role
We currently have an exciting opportunity for an Engineering Manager to join our Engineering Team.
The Engineering Manager you will be responsible for managing the Engineering Department to support the site's production operations.
The role is accountable for planning, training, supporting, and developing the engineering team, while ensuring all health and safety requirements are met and maintained.
The Engineering Manager will also identify, evaluate, and recommend machinery, equipment, and engineering solutions that support the site's continuous improvement agenda, driving operational efficiency, productivity, and profitability.
Your key responsibilities will include
- Full accountability for the managing of the Engineering and Machine Technician teams.
- Full accountability ensuring engineering standards are maintained in line with IPL procedures and BRC requirements.
- Full accountability for site facilities maintenance.
- Act as an active member of HACCAP team.
- Liaise and work closely with site Leadership team to ensure all project timelines, budgets and objectives are delivered in line with the agreed scope.
- Ensure all planned maintenance activities, insurance inspections and contractor works are effectively scheduled, completed, reviewed for closure and appropriately documented, with relevant information communicated to key stakeholders.
- Ensure plant fabric and facilities management is carried out efficiently and compliant with internal and external requirements and legislation.
- Apply the concepts or Food safety, HACCP and other appropriate quality standards to maintenance activities.
- Ensure all engineering activities are carried out safely by colleagues and contractors in accordance with IPL procedures and all relevant health, safety and environmental standards.
- Ensure all repair and maintenance activities are completed in line with approved work procedures, engineering standards are applicable statutory and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in health and safety reviews, GMP audits, and improvement initiatives as required.
- Consult and negotiate with engineering and facility suppliers, in line with IPL polices, to agree service requirements and contractual arrangements.
What are we looking for?
- Technical qualification in engineering discipline such as Degree, HNC/HND with relevant industry experience
- Proven industry & leadership experience within a FMCG Environment
- Proven record in managing a skilled team by setting standards resource planning and coordinating work activities to meet the business needs
- Knowledge of HSE requirements to ensure that safe systems of work, risk assessments, pressure systems directives, statutory requirements and HSE legislation
- Working knowledge of PLC’s
- Strong IT skills, to include awareness of new technologies
- Ability to handle critical decision-making
- Strong problem solving skills and a methodical thought process
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to be logical & analytical
- Organised & able to prioritise
