We’re looking for a Health & Safety Advisor who is visible, approachable and credible on the shopfloor. You’ll help colleagues do the right thing; safely and consistently; so we continue to strengthen day-to-day safety at Forza, meet our legal duties, and keep raising standards through practical, continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Be a trusted point of contact for practical H&S advice, supporting managers and colleagues to work safely.
- Deliver routine site inspections and audits; record findings, agree actions, and see them through to closure.
- Complete and review risk assessments, COSHH and SSOW for tasks, equipment and processes.
- Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses; produce clear reports with root cause and actionable recommendations.
- Support H&S inductions for new starters, contractors and visitors; deliver toolbox talks and briefings as required.
- Maintain key H&S documentation, registers and records (training, inspections, statutory checks) and contribute to KPI reporting.
- Support emergency preparedness: procedures, drills and follow-up actions from drills/inspections.
- Work closely with Production and Maintenance to identify hazards, improve controls and embed safer working practices.
- Support contractor management on site, including safe working arrangements and supervision standards.
- Take ownership of H&S improvement projects and other reasonable duties as required.
Qualifications
Essential:
- Proven experience in a Health & Safety advisory role within a manufacturing/industrial environment.
- Practical experience completing risk assessments, inspections, audits and incident investigations.
- Experience delivering inductions/toolbox talks and engaging colleagues at all levels.
- Working knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation and HSE expectations.
Desirable:
- Woodworking risk management (LEV, wood dust, DSEAR).
- Fire safety governance (Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005).
- Contractor & permit-to-work systems.
- Health surveillance programme coordination.
- ISO 45001 internal auditing.
Required Skills
Essential:
- NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent) and commitment to ongoing CPD.
- IOSH membership (or working towards e.g. TechIOSH/GradIOSH).
- Confident communicator with the ability to coach, influence and challenge constructively.
- Strong report writing and attention to detail; able to manage actions through to completion.
- Practical, solutions-focused approach and confidence working on the shopfloor in PPE.
Desirable:
- Internal auditor training/qualification (ISO 45001).
- NEBOSH Fire Certificate or equivalent fire safety training.
Outcomes
- This role is measured by: Fewer incidents/near misses, with improved reporting quality and learning.
- Planned inspections/audits completed and actions closed out on time.
- Risk assessments/SSOW completed and reviewed to schedule.
- Inductions and priority H&S training delivered on time and to standard.
- Investigations completed within agreed timescales with effective corrective actions.
- Positive audit/inspection outcomes and sustained legal compliance.
