We are expanding our team and have opportunities for a Thermal Simulation Engineer to support our design and manufacturing teams.

Job Details

Job Title: Thermal Simulation Engineer

Company: Forwessun – Woodend Industrial Estate, L24

Position: Permanent, starting immediately

Hours: 37.5 per week; Monday to Thursday 08:30–17:00, Friday 08:30–14:30

Starting: Salary TBC – Dependent on experience

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop a custom thermal simulation software tool tailored to internal engineering requirements.
  • Define and model environmental parameters such as ambient temperature, altitude, and humidity, in collaboration with thermodynamic engineers.
  • Simulate heat generation and distribution within test fixtures, as well as the performance of proposed cooling systems.
  • Evaluate the combined system for thermal compliance, and iterate simulations to achieve conformity.
  • Integrate real-world thermal measurement data with simulation outputs to enhance accuracy and reliability.
  • Continuously refine the simulation model based on testing feedback and new thermal constraints.
  • Deliver simulation results in a clear, graphical format that is accessible and meaningful for senior management and decision-makers.

Ideal Candidate

  • Solid background in thermal systems analysis, heat transfer, and thermodynamics.
  • Proven experience in developing or working with thermal and fluid dynamic simulation tools.
  • Proficiency with one or more of the following tools: CFD, COMSOL Multiphysics, Ansys Icepak, Cadence Design Tool, Siemens Simcenter Simulation Software.
  • Strong programming or scripting ability (e.g., Python, MATLAB, or similar).
  • Experience with data visualization and producing executive-level graphical reports.
  • Ability to iterate simulations based on real-time measurement comparisons and testing results.
  • Effective communicator with the ability to collaborate across engineering and non-technical teams.
